On-Call Architectural Services Contract for City of Baltimore

Providing On-Call architectural and engineering services, Mimar Architects and Engineer’s Inc. (MAE) completed two tasks for the renovation and improvement of existing City owned and operated facilities, under this contract. Responding to the evolving needs of the local communities, MAE provided professional design and construction services for the renovation of two firehouses operated by the Baltimore Fire Department.

Providing On-Call architectural and engineering services, Mimar Architects and Engineer’s Inc. (MAE) completed two tasks for the renovation and improvement of existing City owned and operated facilities, under this contract. Responding to the evolving needs of the local communities, Mimar provided professional design and construction services for the renovation of two firehouses operated by the Baltimore Fire Department.

Tasks Included:


1.  Former Truck 6 Renovations: Probable cost of construction - $650,000. The project reactivated a dormant firehouse to serve as an EMT station serving an increased demand in the neighborhood.  Currently  functioning  as  an  office and support space for the Baltimore Fire Department, the renovations included the addition of sleeping quarters for two EMT ambulances (4 beds),   2 showers, renovated kitchen and office space on the second floor. First floor renovations included the conversion of existing toilet room to an accessible toilet room for public use, staff lockers and replacing a portion of the existing deteriorated concrete slab. Existing mechanical and electrical services were updated to serve the revised floor plans including new incoming water service, new rooftop mechanical unit, and revised power and lighting layouts.

2.  Firehouse 26 Renovations: Probable cost of construction - $196,000. Work included improvements to a portion of the existing building, encompassing approximately 2,650 sf. Exterior improvements included new windows at the second floor, partial demolition of an existing hose tower, installation of new roof framing and new roofing material. Interior improvements included the installation of a new stair to the second floor, and new floor, wall, and ceiling finishes. Electrical work included modifications to existing wiring and relocating existing light fixtures to accommodate the revised floor plan.
